Victory at IRONMAN 70.3 Vichy

Another win in France ... IRONMAN 70.3 Vichy

Last Saturday, around 06:50h AM, I started in Vichy. A half distance (70.3) race to check on my actual form and speed. With this performance and result I can say that everything is fine for now.

The non wetsuit swim was fast from the start and I was able to come out of the water in 5th position. On the bike, same thing, hard and agressive from the beginning. With first Kung and later Boecherer in the lead, I was able to follow them. By the end of the bike section (2h02 over 90km) I could take the lead and reach T2 with Boecherer. Our closest competitors, Costes and Kung, were 3 minutes behind.

On the run I felt really comfortable and I was able to hold a good pace from the start. By the 8km mark I took the lead and I finished the race with a 1h13min time over 21km. My total finish time was 3h46min, quite fast over this distance. So far my 3rd IRONMAN 70.3 title in my career.

Time for some recovery now before the final 6 weeks leading up to the most important race of the year, the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona (Hawaii).

I'll keep you posted!
Frederik
